The black days never last for long.
Also it helps that it's (finally!) hot and sunny. Hard to be in a glum mood when you can roll down all the windows, feel your hair tangling with the breeze and rock out to something loud. (Hope springs eternal.)
As Meg's and my beloved little (or not-so-little) Nara used to say, in her gruff deep little toddler voice, with her luminous dark eyes intent and serious:
"It be okay, baby."

The Year of More and Less
Life continues apace. I like being in my late thirties. I have my shit roughly together. I'm more secure and confident in who I am....

So what was the nice Catholic girl rocking out to in all of that sunshine and wind?
Decemberists, Hazards of Love.
Makes me want a really nice car stereo.
Ah, The Decembrists are amazing! Lovely to hear folk sing who actually own a dictionary. And even a Strunk & White's, I would guess. Haven't heard Hazards Of Love.
Have you seen them live? I bet that is one interesting show!
I once heard the Decemberists live, backed by a full orchestra. It was amazing.
With a full orchestra? That would be a sight! Was it recorded?
I see on their website that they will be in Indy in August. Perhaps I'll get the chance.
I don't think it was recorded. They did a tour in the summer of 2007 and played with different orchestras. I heard them in Chicago at my favorite outdoor music venue.
I don't think I've ever encountered a Decemberists fan above the age of about 28. ha
You still haven't. I'm only 28 and 27 halves.
Besides, my mom likes them. She also loves Sufjan Stevens and both of my parents love Low.
But I think we have been a weird family since very long before I was born.
